Smart Apps for
Everyday Life

DevDad is a one-person app studio in Seoul. Its main app is PicDock, which turns an old Android tablet or phone into an always-on digital photo and video frame.

PicDock at a glance

  • What it is: an Android app that turns a spare tablet or phone into an always-on digital photo & video frame, with a clock, live weather, night mode, an alarm and auto-start on the charger.
  • On Google Play: listed as “Photo Slideshow, Digital Frame” by DD_studio (package kr.devdad.picdock). Not related to the macOS utility “PicDock” at picdock.app.
  • Photo sources: device albums, Google Photos (picker), Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Shared Albums and NAS/SMB (Synology, QNAP, Windows). Every photo source except web upload is free.
  • Videos: play from the device’s storage (NAS video is an opt-in beta); videos in cloud services are not played.
  • Price: free to install. Optional Premium is sold as a lifetime one-time purchase, a yearly or a monthly subscription. The Amazon Appstore edition (Fire tablets) is a paid app.
  • iPhone/iPad: a separate iOS app (“PicDock - Live Photo Slideshow”) that works from the device photo library; features differ.
